Self Employment Placement Year
Date: Wednesday 29th March
Time: 09:30 – 15:00
Location: University of Portsmouth, Innovation Space (2nd Floor), Halpern House, 1 Hampshire Terrace, Portsmouth, PO1 2QF
This event will focus on the provision and delivery of an intra-curricular Self-Employment Placement Year (SEP); an alternative to the traditional employment based industry placement year for 3rd year undergraduate students and an opportunity to embed enterprise education into parts of the curriculum.
Hosted by the University of Portsmouth, this event will offer the attendees the chance to gain an understanding of the University of Portsmouth’s Self-Employment Placement year, its content, the process for selection, engagement with the Faculties and subject areas and how this year benefits the students.
There will also be an opportunity to hear from other institutions as to how they approached similar models and the challenges they have faced and discuss how this might work in your own organisation.
Finally there will be an overview of the small research project as undertaken at the University of Portsmouth exploring the impact of the SEP on students careers and degree classifications.
